【摘要】:1.1Thispracticeprovidesinformationonapparatus,safety,pre-testpreparation,andproceduresforconductingfieldtestsofpolyethylenepressurepipingsystemsbyfillingwithaliquidandapplyingpressuretodetermineifleaksexistinthesystem.1.2Thispracticedoesnotaddressleaktestingusingapressurizedgas(pneumatictesting).Forsafetyreasons,somemanufacturersprohibitorrestrictpneumaticpressuretestingoftheirproducts.Failureduringapressureleaktestcanbeexplosive,violent,anddangerous,especiallyifacompressedgasisused.Inacompressedgastest,boththepressurestressonthesystemandtheenergyusedtocompressthegasarereleasedatafailure.Contactcomponentmanufacturersforinformationabouttestingwithgasunderpressure.1.3Thispracticedoesnotapplytoleaktestingofnon-pressure,gravity-flow,negativepressure(vacuum),ornon-thermoplasticpipingsystems.Forfield-testingofplasticgravityflowsewerlines,seeTestMethodF1417.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitswhichareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.AdditionalsafetyinformationispresentedinSectionandthroughoutthisstandard.
